The Revised Advance Beneficiary Notice of Non-Coverage (ABN)
CMS-R-131

CMS has released the revised Advance Beneficiary Notice of Non-Coverage (ABN), which replaces the current CMS-R-131-G currently in use. The new form CMS-R-131 was released on March 3, 2008. Per CMS, there is a 6-month transition period, and CMS date of compliance is September 1, 2008. Per CMS, during the transition period, the use of the current ABN form is acceptable.

This session outlines the Medicare regulations relating to outpatient services and the use of the revised ABN form CMS-R-131.
