Chris Bernacki, Senior Director of Consulting Services, has had a varied career in hospital systems. She began as a Respiratory Therapist working on the clinical side of operations for 16 years. She then worked at Arthur Anderson LLC as a healthcare auditor and process improvement consultant. Chris has worked in various hospital systems as the Director of Patient Financial Services and currently oversees the Cosand Billing Group for Passport. Chris earned her BA in Accounting and her MBA from Northern Illinois University. Chris is also CPA and a Six Sigma Lean Belt.
Max Carter, Vice President, Corporate Solutions, has extensive experience in the healthcare-based e-commerce industry. In 1989, he joined MediFax, now Emdeon, and rose to the position of Sr. Vice President of Sales. In 1998 he joined Envoy Corporation, which became part of WebMD, and later served as Vice President of Business Development for ZirMed.com. Mr. Carter joined Passport Health in 2002 as Vice President, Integrated Solutions and later became the Vice President of Sales. Mr. Carter holds a BBA in Business Administration from Texas A & I University, an MS degree from West Virginia University in Environmental Studies, and completed all relevant course work for a PhD in Environmental Management at Vanderbilt University.
Jodie Edmonds, Vice President, Medicaid Revenue Consultant worked for the State of Illinois for 33 years. Over 20 of those years were spent managing the Illinois Medicaid statewide billing and payment programs. Jodie’s role with Nebo Systems/Passport Health is to provide consulting services to Illinois Medicaid providers, helping providers reduce their rate of Medicaid claim rejections and increase revenue. Part of her responsibilities include specialized training and seminars to teach best practices relating to Illinois Medicaid Billing & Policy.
Mary Fairclough, Director of Medicaid Operations, has 35 years of experience working with the Illinois Medicaid Program. Mary has been managing the daily operations of Passport’s Springfield Office since 1999. She is responsible for multiple Medicaid receivable projects and oversees a staff of 25. Mary was previously employed with the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid, for 16 years. She held various caseworker positions within the Sangamon County Medicaid Office and was the Supervisor of the Hospital Education Unit before moving to the private sector. As Supervisor, she developed and conducted hospital billing seminars statewide and worked with providers closely to resolve billing issues.
Paul Hoffman, Vice President of Product Development, is responsible for creating and designing Passport’s patient billing portals. He pioneered the patient-friendly billing movement in 1991 at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago and developed the industry’s first online business office for patients in 2001. Paul is a passionate visionary and his online products have touched over 50 million patients across the country.
Ram Iyengar, Senior VP, STAT Technologies, oversees the Patient Scheduling and Portals Division of Passport. Ram cofounded StatSchedules Technologies in 2000 to provide cost effective Web native patient scheduling and physician access solutions. He was involved in all aspects of the design, development and implementation of these solutions that are now deployed in hospitals and health systems. Because of his pivotal role, Stat became one of the first companies to allow physicians to access and schedule patients directly from their offices and be able to track the status of the tests ordered and review the results remotely.
Adam Lackey, Regional Vice President Sales, is an HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) and has more than 13 years of experience in healthcare, including a strong focus on the revenue cycle. He quickly rose through the training and sales ranks at Passport and spent three years with the BatchSource team assisting clients with self-pay and pre-registration files and a year with the Inside Sales team prior to his current position.
Mandy Long, Vice President of Product Management and HIS Strategy, began her healthcare technology career as a Senior Project Manager at Epic where she specialized in patient access and revenue cycle workflows. She managed national implementation projects and drove multiple product development initiatives. In 2011, Mandy joined Passport to spearhead the creation of its Epic Division. Charged with ensuring that Passport’s Epic customers receive expert support and optimize Passport’s solutions in their Epic environments, she formed a team of subject matter experts and dramatically expanded Passport’s presence in the Epic market space. In her current role, Mandy develops and promotes new, best-in-class products and services. Recent initiatives include an Enterprise Master Patient Index solution and Prior Authorization Management solutions.
Lance Mansfield, Vice President of Product Management, leads Passport’s product development, technical partnership and corporate acquisition strategies. Lance joined Passport in 2007 and spearheaded the company’s initiative with patient payment processing. Prior to Passport, Lance was chief technology officer at Verus, an eHealth startup based in Bellevue, Wash. Lance is a graduate of MIT, where he received his MBA LGO, a dual degree program in business and engineering as a Leaders for Global Operations fellow.
Joe Modestine, Product Director STAT Scheduling, has been instrumental in managing and refining fundamental solutions during his 13 years with Passport. He developed and implemented the very first electronic Medical Necessity and ABN generating software which still runs in hospitals and health care systems in all 50 states. In his current role, Joe is developing new physician ordering tools, including an electronic fax ordering and management system that integrate with Passport’s scheduling suite of solutions.
Katherine H. Murphy, Vice President Revenue Cycle Consulting, has over 20 years of experience in hospital revenue cycle management specializing in Access processes, redesign and implementation. Katherine received her BA from Northern Illinois University and graduate Certificate from Benedictine University. She served four years on the Board of Directors for NAHAM, five years as Illinois affiliate President and is a member of HFMA. As Access Director in a multi-facility Midwest health system, Katherine chaired the Registration Council and the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Access Group. Joining Passport in 2004, she applies her experience to automated solutions and oversees the Speakers Bureau.
Marcus Padgett, Senior Vice President Revenue Cycle Solutions, assists hospitals in the design and implementation of integrated administrative and financial solutions. During his 20 years of experience in healthcare technology and finance, he has been a health system CIO, an internet startup CTO, a decision support systems manager and a business process consultant. Marcus holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Ric Perez, Product Director, is responsible for Payment Navigator, Passport’s financial triage solution. Ric has over 12 years of experience in developing and marketing revenue cycle solutions for healthcare providers. He spent several years helping to build the healthcare practice at TransUnion and has vast insight into the use of consumer information in the healthcare environment. He has a BA in Economics from Northwestern University and is our resident consumer data guru.
Nicole Rotunno, Vice President of Sales, is responsible for new business development at large hospitals and health systems in the Midwest and Northeast U.S. She manages a team of Regional Vice Presidents and personally manages sales for key strategic accounts. She joined Passport in 2004 when it acquired Milwaukee-based Pro-Services, Inc. Nicole graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Marquette University, Milwaukee and has an MBA from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. She is a member of Illinois and Ohio’s Association of Healthcare Access Management and the Illinois chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Jorge Wong, Senior Product Director, is responsible for developing Passport’s PaymentSafe solution. Jorge has over 20 years of experience working with hospitals to create more efficient, effective and patient-friendly payment solutions at point-of-service. He helped design one of the first POS collection products for the healthcare industry, which is still in use today. Jorge has been with Passport and its affiliate companies throughout his healthcare career. Prior to entering the healthcare field, Jorge was a CPA with one of the nation’s top accounting firms.
