FRANKLIN, Tennessee – Passport Health Communications, Inc., announces Patient Locator, a cost
effective address verification solution for healthcare providers that use its
Internet-based product, Passport
OneSource®.
Patient Locator uses multiple data sources to present patient demographic data
to the end-user. This data includes the patient name, address, social security
number, date of birth, and phone number. The data sources are historical, so
multiple listings may go back several years showing a history of addresses and
name changes. Patient Locator proves to be a powerful tool, tackling major problems for
revenue management:
Patient Locator helps facilities with returned mail, by identifying correct
addresses and other relevant contact information.
Reduced Fraud – Patient Locator eliminates the most common ways patients commit
fraud using someone else's Social Security Number (SSN). Frequently, when a SSN
of a deceased person is used - if a SSN belongs to a deceased person, it is
clearly identified with Patient Locator.
Current address, or address history, is also a good tool for checking fraud.
During the interview process, if the hospital suspects fraud they can refer to
Patient Locator for historical addresses to question the patient.
Increased revenue for charity care – Many providers have programs that assist
patients with charity care. Inability to identify the patient, or to contact
them means lost revenue.
“The
data sources that Passport uses, represents the highest quality sources
available,” states Dan Proctor, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of
Passport. “Patient Locator will cross match results on an inquiry and will
verify that records from various sources match. If multiple matches exists from
multiple data sources the most probable current address,” state Proctor.
Patient Locator is integrated within Passport
OneSource®, the eligibility
solution which allows users to verify a patient’s address and social security
number at the point of patient registration.
